Peter D. Baum is a partner of the firm and has more than 29 years of Federal, State and International income tax experience delivering broad-based knowledge in both public accounting and private industry to clients in need of financial tax services, international tax and corporate tax planning and advising clients on all aspects of taxation across a wide variety of industries including financial service companies, service companies, privately held businesses and manufacturing/distribution companies. With deep expertise in providing cross-border tax planning and consulting services to individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts, his clients include multinational firms, high-net-worth individuals, and privately held companies.
He has represented corporate and individual clients before the Internal Revenue Service and many state departments of taxation in connection with tax examinations, tax controversies, appeals and criminal investigations. He works closely with his clients to navigate the complexities associated with international tax regulations, as well as structure deals for both U.S.-based and foreign businesses. In addition, he has substantial experience advising on, reviewing, and preparing tax provisions under FASB ASC 740 for financial statements.
Prior to joining the firm, Peter was a Partner at Ernst & Young and the International Tax Director of American International Group.
Peter is a frequent speaker at the International Taxation Conference of the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA) and is a past committee co-chair of the annual conference. He most recently presented to the United Nations on the topic of estate planning for non-U.S. residents.
