Former IRS Special Counsel to Lead Tax Controversy Practice

PKF O’Connor Davies, one of the nation’s largest accounting, tax and advisory practices, today announced that it has hired Kelly Morrison Lee as Managing Director. Morrison Lee will lead and expand the organization’s Tax Controversy practice and focus on helping clients navigate complex federal tax administrative processes and tax-related controversies.

Prior to joining PKF O’Connor Davies, Morrison Lee spent more than 15 years with the IRS in significant leadership roles, including as Senior Advisor to the Chief Tax Compliance Officer and as Special Counsel for the National Taxpayer Advocate Program. She has extensive experience coordinating strategy, analyzing data, identifying trends and interpreting taxpayer rights serving in various capacities.

Morrison Lee has overseen nationwide teams of field attorneys, litigated more than 500 cases before the U.S. Tax Court and advised on high-profile cases brought before the U.S. Courts of Appeal and Supreme Court. Her expertise spans reporting and compliance requirements, privacy and disclosure laws, interest abatement and penalty relief, dispute resolution and administrative appeals.

Morrison Lee earned her Juris Doctor degree from Washington University School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts degree in Accounting from Hope College. She is admitted to the Washington, D.C. Bar and U.S. Tax Court Bar and is a member of the American College of Tax Counsel and the American Bar Association Taxation Section.
