Alexander Buchholz has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting, including time at a “Big Four” firm. He is the Practice Leader of the organization’s Cemetery Division and is a co-leader in its Not-for-Profit Practice.
Alex specializes in single audits and internal control/compliance audits. He develops the audit approach, supervises staff and manages engagements to support timely completion while minimizing disruption to client operations. His industry experience spans not-for-profit and health care entities, including social service agencies, arts and cultural organizations, skilled nursing facilities, charter schools, diagnostic and treatment centers, home care service entities, adult homes and other long-term care facilities, as well as cemeteries.
Alex is also an adjunct professor at Brooklyn College and Lehman College, both part of the City University of New York, where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in accounting and auditing.
He conducts internal training seminars and frequently speaks to outside organizations and associations. He also writes articles on accounting and auditing topics for professional publications, including an article he co-authored that was published by NonProfitPRO.
Alex was recognized as a 2024 Nonprofit Trailblazer by City & State New York.
