Brian Petersen has more than 20 years of public accounting experience. He provides auditing, review and consulting services for municipal entities and governmental organizations. He works with a diverse client base that includes towns, villages, school districts and public benefit agencies.
Brian leads audit engagements, working closely with management teams and governing boards on accounting, financial reporting and regulatory matters. He has extensive experience helping governmental entities navigate complex reporting requirements, implement new accounting standards and address evolving compliance obligations.
In addition to his governmental practice, Brian brings diversified experience through his work with commercial tax clients, providing guidance on tax compliance, reporting and planning matters. He has also been involved in fiduciary and estate accounting engagements, assisting with trust and estate administration, financial reporting and related tax requirements. This broad range of experience enhances his ability to serve clients with varying financial and accounting needs while delivering thoughtful and effective solutions.
Brian is also committed to community service, having served as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Suffolk Community College Foundation for more than 10 years.
