PKF Investment Banking (PKFIB), the investment banking affiliate of PKF O’Connor Davies, LLP, one of the nation’s largest accounting, tax and advisory firms, today announced the hiring of Daniel Potton as Director. Potton joins the team’s New York City office as a trained engineer with nearly a decade of experience in investment banking and corporate development. His hiring allows the team to expand its breadth of industry expertise across a variety of industrial, manufacturing and distribution verticals. Specifically, his expertise includes chemicals, automotive/electric vehicles, industrial services, engineering and construction, building products and aerospace and defense.

“Daniel’s advanced, multidisciplinary experience, not to mention his executive-level work advising the transactions of some of the largest players in the industrial space, solidifies him as the ideal professional to spearhead the next phase of our team’s growth,” said Robert Murphy, Senior Managing Director at PKF Investment Banking. “We’ve always considered the depth and breadth of our subject-matter expertise to be a key point of differentiation and Daniel’s hiring further underscores the exceptional talent of our team.”

Potton launched his career as an electrical design engineer for a global leader in nuclear energy solutions, where he was responsible for modeling and designing utility-scale nuclear generation and distribution systems. After returning to graduate school and earning a Master of Business Administration, he transitioned to a career in investment banking working for two of the largest multinational financial services firms. Over the course of his career, Potton has advised public and private clients on over $40 billion of M&A and strategic initiatives through buy-side and sell-side transactions, joint ventures, divestitures and capital allocation practices. Additionally, he has executed over $15 billion in capital markets transactions consisting of IPOs and equity and debt offerings. He has worked on cross-border transactions in the UK, Switzerland, Israel, South Korea, Thailand and China.

“My background in both engineering and investment banking has provided me with a unique perspective that better allows me to anticipate, understand and respond to the needs of my clients,” Potton said. “I look to leverage my experience as the team continues to increase its capabilities and serve a greater number of clients across the industrial sector.”

Potton earned his Master of Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina.
