PKF O’Connor Davies Advisory Appoints New Board Members

Board welcomes three leaders to new roles overseeing organization’s strategic direction

PKF O’Connor Davies Advisory LLC, the independently owned tax and business advisory practice operating under the PKF O’Connor Davies brand name, today announced the appointment of three new Board Members. Laura K. Barooshian, Karen Taylor-Burke and Brian M. Varley have been selected to serve on the organization’s board, effective January of this year. Board Members of PKF O’Connor Davies Advisory are charged with setting the strategic direction of the organization and supporting the implementation of its highest priorities.

Laura K. Barooshian has over two decades of experience providing tax planning and compliance expertise to high-net-worth individuals, trusts, private foundations, expatriates and closely held businesses. She advises clients on matters such as stock options and compensation planning, philanthropic planning alternatives and estate and family gift planning. She consults with clients on managing their global income and estate tax liabilities, which include expatriate taxation, foreign property and international investments. She is a Certified Public Accountant in Massachusetts, as well as an Accredited Estate Planner® and a Chartered Advisor in Philanthropy®. Active with numerous professional organizations, she also lends her expertise to various civic organizations, including service on the Board of Trustees of The Baker Center for Children and Families and the North County Land Trust. She holds a Master of Science degree in Taxation from Northeastern University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accountancy from Bentley University.

Karen Taylor-Burke has over 25 years of experience in public accounting. Karen serves clients in the Not-for-Profit practice where she delivers a wide variety of accounting, audit and advisory services to charitable organizations and labor unions. She also provides accounting and audit services to clients in the Real Estate and Construction sectors, specializing in cost certifications and compliance audits. Karen is committed to PKF O’Connor Davies’ Diversity, Equity and Inclusion culture and has been leading the Women’s Initiative Network since 2019. Karen has been recognized by NJBIZ as a Leader in Finance and has also been named by this business journal as a Power 50 Accounting Notable. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA), she is also involved with a number of civic and not-for-profit organizations. She is a Certified Public Accountant in New Jersey and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from La Salle University.

Brian M. Varley has over 30 years of experience with both national and local accounting firms. He specializes in tax planning for privately-owned businesses, with an emphasis on real estate owners, operators and developers. He also provides financial planning expertise to high-net-worth families and individuals. In addition, he has extensive audit and accounting experience with small to mid-sized companies in a variety of industries. A member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), his civic involvement includes past service to the Orange County Citizens Foundation as Chairman of the Board of Directors and to the Orange County Land Trust as Special Advisor to the Board of Directors. A Certified Public Accountant in New York and New Jersey, he holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Public Accounting from Pace University.
